Multi-Day, Multicultural Summer Wedding Feature: Natasha and Andrew
Natasha and Andrew had such a beautiful wedding day in Chicago! The multicultural fusion that they had was surely something fun and personalized to them as a couple and their families. We were their day-of coordinators for their multi-day wedding in June and we were so happy to have been a part of it.
It was scheduled to rain a lot prior to the early June weekend, but it ended up being sunny and humid overall. Seeing how Natasha and Andrew chose the traditions from their cultures for their wedding day was definitely fun to be a part of. They started their wedding festivities with a mehendi where the ladies got henna on the first day. We don’t have the photos from that, but Natasha wore a beautiful red outfit that we absolutely adored! The second day was when they had their traditional Catholic ceremony and more Indian traditions like the baraat and their attire.
Natasha and Andrew both work a lot, so it was important for them to be able to pass off their plans to a professional and make sure every detail was coordinated. They knew that they were the hosts, but they wanted to make sure that they could actually enjoy their time with their family and friends as much as possible.
Natasha’s first look was more traditional to the western traditions from Andrew’s side. We absolutely adored the veil with the floral appliqués!
Natasha and Andrew decided to skip the first look before the ceremony and see each other down the aisle for the first time at Old St. Pat’s. They had a rather traditional Catholic mass with some Indian traditions sprinkled in to the service as well. After they said their “I dos”, they were off to take photos in Chicago!
We really loved seeing the western style attire, but we were also so excited to see the second outfits the couple was planning to change into before the reception. The color palette that they chose for the multicultural day was so beautiful for the end of spring and the beginning of summer! We loved that each bridesmaid had their own color - it really was unique and beautiful.
The main photos were on the Chicago river near Gibson’s Italia and it was the perfect day for it for sure! Once they wrapped up their photos by the river, it was time to head to the reception.
After the photos, the wedding party made their way to the reception at Lacuna Lofts. Natasha got some touchups and the couple changed into their traditional, Indian wedding attire.
We loved seeing the real blend of cultures - it was evident that their day was such a personal blend of families! You also really can’t beat the view of the beautiful city from the Skydeck.
After the drinks and appetizers at cocktail hour, the guests were ushered outside for the baraat which was a parade around the space. We are glad the weather wasn’t too bad so they could really enjoy their time together. They had both Indian and American songs and the crowd was SO excited to be a part of it all.
The guests were ushered inside, the coffee cart was ready for guests, and everyone got to see the beautiful setup for the reception. We personally loved the array of disco balls and how light and airy the space felt!
The attire was the focus, but the structure of the evening was very western-styled for a perfect multicultural blend. They went from the grand entrance to the couple’s welcome speech, and then the guests relaxed during dinner as you might expect. It seemed like everyone was having a wonderful time!
When there was time, Natasha and Andrew went up to the Skydeck one last time for photos during the sunset. We always recommend sunset photos if you can manage because the lighting is unreal! Weddings at Lacuna Lofts are surely our favorite for the Skydeck view too.
The couple shared their first dance and formal dances, and then Natasha’s family kicked things off with some surprises.
Natasha’s family all danced together, but the bigger surprise was when Natasha’s sister brought so many of their guests out for a choreographed dance. It was surely a perfect way to open up the dance floor and kick off the fun for the rest of the evening!
We really loved seeing the fusion and blend of families and cultures for this wedding day and we are so happy to have been a part of it. It was a wedding we are sure to remember because it was so much fun and we are so happy that Natasha and Andrew were able to enjoy themselves too.
Overall, it was clear that all of the guests and the couple had a wonderful time and we are so glad to have been a part of making it a lovely time. We really feel it was a success even though it was a mix of traditions and it seemed like all of their family and friends had a great time bringing so many cultural traditions together. We loved being there to witness it all and we are thankful to have helped make sure everything ended up running smoothly!
A lovely review from Natasha and Andrew about our services:
“We absolutely loved Firmly Rooted Events and would highly recommend them - if you’re looking for a coordinator look no further!! Our wedding weekend went by perfectly and Liz and Phoebe did such an amazing job and helped us with everything that we needed so we could just focus on enjoying our wedding. Liz was our main coordinator and she was beyond fantastic- she is so kind and fun and was such a grounding presence the month or so before our wedding and helped us so much with all the final details and a few venue issues we had. Rachel was also so kind and helpful in the consultation and all the tips she sent leading up to our wedding.”
