Sweet, Romantic, Summer Wedding at People’s Gas Pavilion, The Honeycomb, in Lincoln Park Zoo and Floating World Gallery in Chicago, IL Wedding Feature: Kimberly and John

Kimberly and John had a wedding that we absolutely adored. Their love for each other was so clear and Kimberly’s radiant happiness is something we all need for weddings!

They are from Arizona but they got the perfect taste of the city with the nice, June day they had. They wanted a romantic, dreamy, and light vibe and they got exactly that with their ceremony at People’s Gas Pavilion, or as most people know it by - The Honeycomb, and their reception at Floating World Gallery in Chicago. We were providing their day-of coordination to make sure the day felt relaxed and seamless. Kimberly is a teacher, so she finished her school year on the Friday before the wedding and flew in from AZ to have her special day on Sunday! Our team had a last-minute change the week leading up to the wedding due to a family emergency but everything still went off without a hitch.

The girls got ready at a hotel while the guys met up at the reception venue. Kimberly and her crew had lots of fun getting their hair and makeup done and getting dressed together!

We absolutely love seeing the joy with the slow morning getting everyone ready for the big day. We always recommend adding in some buffer time in case hair and makeup gets behind, but it’s also nice to eat lunch and just be together with your favorite people before the busy-ness gets started. When everyone was ready to go, the girls and the guys were heading over to Lincoln Park Zoo where the ceremony was so they can do the first look and photos.

We absolutely loved Kimberly’s look for the day - the lace, floral appliqués throughout the top and bottom were really leaning into the dreamy, romantic feeling they were going for and her hair was perfectly placed and out of the way - perfect planning for an early June wedding!

Kimberly and John really wanted to make sure their first look felt special and non-chaotic from the start. They were able to have their intimate moment together of seeing each other for the first time and also reading their personal vows they wrote. It was a sweet, beautiful moment that we absolutely loved! They were also worried about the wedding party making their way over to the photo location but they were able to get some photos done before the guests started arriving before the ceremony.

We don’t often see the tea-length dresses for bridesmaids, but a combination of the color, material or patter, and the length perfectly captured that light, dreamy, romantic feeling that they wanted. We often see lately that the groom wears a different color than his wedding party members and we love seeing them stand out too!

The ceremony took place in one of the most iconic spots in Lincoln Park - the Honeycomb! The couple opted to not have sound there, but thankfully they didn’t have a very large guest count so they weren’t sitting too far away from the officiant. They had a beautiful ceremony trio for their music and it was truly as dreamy as you could get.

After the ceremony, the wedding party took a few more photos together before heading out to the reception. It’s great to get a few pictures of everyone together and they all looked great!

A really special part about having your wedding reception in an art gallery like Floating World Gallery is that Kimberly and John were able to bring in their own photos of themselves to hang throughout the whole space! They also had other personal touches, such as photos from their family members’ weddings and thank you cards written out for all of their guests, which is always such a sweet, incredible gesture to thank your guests for traveling in and celebrating your love.

The couple made some time for themselves in cocktail hour using their audio guest book and mingling into the grand entrance and dinner. They really wanted candid moments to happen freely for them to really get to celebrate with everyone, and it looked like such a great time! After dinner, they did their cake cutting, dances, and got dessert out to get the party started.

John works in management at Freddy’s so it was such a fun treat to see the Freddy’s hats everywhere! They also did an iconic T-shirt toss for their guests on the dance floor which they all clearly loved.

We could tell that their guests were really excited for them and just wanted to have a great time celebrating with Kimberly and John. It’s always such a treat to see our couples let loose after all the formalities and have so much fun after such a lovely wedding day!

Kimberly was such a hoot and was all smiles throughout the whole wedding day. Everyone there was so kind and sweet and we are so thankful to have made sure they got hitched without a hitch!

Overall, Kimberly and John’s wedding day was something out of a fairytale. We really enjoyed getting to know them and get all of their details together for the big day. We made sure that they could actually enjoy the moment and be present with their family and friends without needing to worry about the details. We loved seeing how happy they both were and how much they really loved each other and their family and friends.

Chad, their photographer, also did a spectacular job capturing their love and joy as you can already tell! He also sent them film photos of some really special moments, so we wanted to add them in a gallery below.
