Fun, Personalized, Fall Wedding at Salvage One in Chicago, IL Wedding Feature: Casey and Boyd
Casey and Boyd had the wedding of the century and it was truly incredible from start to finish! While they had already gotten officially married before their October wedding day, they wanted to have a time to actually celebrate with their family and friends at Salvage One in Chicago. We were there as their day-of coordinators to make sure they could actually enjoy their time with everyone, and that they did!
For it being the end of October, the day itself was a little chilly but not intolerable - most of the day was indoors, but thankfully their time taking photos outside wasn’t too bad in their suits! Casey and Boyd both prioritized being able to hang out with and dance with their friends, spending some time alone together, and get all of their formal photos finished before the festivities began. Their guests were mainly coming from the east coast and they really wanted to make sure they could celebrate their love with their favorite people. We were able to have all that happen and more, and it really was such a great time from start to finish!
Casey and Boyd started their day together at the Westin in River North. They didn’t have a wedding party, so it was a great opportunity for them to get as much time together as possible.
Casey and Boyd chose florals that were bright, fall colors and we absolutely loved seeing their details come together. They also customized all of their signage and paper to match - the invitations, welcome sign, custom napkins… everything was made with intention and you could really tell the care they took to have everything come together.
After Casey and Boyd got ready, they set out to take their first set of formal photos in the city. There are so many beautiful places in Chicago and the lighting was absolutely perfect - Sarah Nader also did a PHENOMENAL job and we had such a hard time picking our favorite photos!
Casey and Boyd then made their way to Salvage One - they got there earlier than expected and really utilized their time for some incredible portraits together, while also taking some time to greet their friends that were beginning to arrive. They didn’t have wedding party members, but they did have some MVPs they wanted to spend some extra time with before the ceremony officially kicked off.
Casey and Boyd still wanted to have a formal ceremony with everyone, and Salvage One has the best spot to have it with their pews and aisle already established. They had their parents walk with them down the aisle and their close friend officiate and it was SO fun to witness. They also wrote their own personal vows to read at the ceremony that everyone adored - there were so many laughs and happy tears, including Boyd who has been rumored to not be a crier. Casey on the other hand, we heard from all his friends that it was a given that he would be crying during their ceremony. We actually had to start the ceremony a few minutes late because of late guests and a car alarm going off that we were worried would interrupt, but everything still was right on time after that since we always allot extra buffer time just in case.
After the ceremony, the first floor was used for cocktail hour while the final touches were being added to the second floor for the reception. One of our favorite things about Salvage One for a wedding is that the reception uses antique tables for the guests to sit at for dinner - it always feels so intimate and it’s just so unique!
Casey and Boyd also still had a head table regardless of not having a formal wedding party so they could spend more time with their loved ones. It was such a nice time for everyone involved!
There were more speeches than usual, but honestly each one was incredibly captivating and held the attention of the guests the whole time. It clearly was meaningful for Casey and Boyd to hear all of the kind, fun words everyone had to say - we will never say you can’t have what you want on your wedding day and it all worked out nicely! We were still good on time and after the cake cutting, Casey and Boyd danced with their moms and each other. It was such a good time and a perfect way to kick off the dance floor.
All of Casey and Boyd’s friends and family were definitely ready to party - the dance floor was full the entire night and it was such a blast! Their DJ did a wonderful job and kept the party going. Casey and Boyd took some final photos outside at Salvage One’s iconic “Chicago” lights sign and then enjoyed their time on the dance floor without a worry in the world. After the reception ended too, everyone made their way to Brando’s in the Chicago Loop to keep dancing the night away.
Overall, Casey and Boyd’s wedding was one of the most fun times of our year. Everyone was SO excited to be together and we absolutely love when guests are ready to dance. The day was incredibly intentional from their details, to their invited guests, to the personalized vows for their ceremony. It was all such a wonderful time and we are so happy that Casey and Boyd were able to enjoy themselves while we handled the details!!
