Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook Wedding | Venue Spotlight and Classic Wedding Feature: Anna and Mike
We are expanding on this original blog post in 2026 to add more about Hyatt Lodge as a venue for weddings. We thought that sharing our experience with working in this venue would be helpful to couples that are searching for hotel wedding venues in the Chicago and Chicago area.
As a Chicago and Chicago suburbs day-of wedding coordinator and planner that has worked more than 150 weddings, we have seen everything great and rough with wedding venues and we know the best from the worst of it all. There are so many factors to consider when you’re looking for the wedding venue that’s right for you. One of our favorite venues by far in the Chicago suburbs for a wedding is The Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook, Illinois. We often can’t find a hotel wedding venue that has natural lighting, unique features, and all of the perks of a hotel onsite, but this space surely takes the cake in that department. Here are all of the important things to know about Hyatt Lodge that might help you decide if this wedding venue is right for you.

The Space
The Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook is a hotel venue that is perfect for your entire wedding weekend. They have 4 main rooms that you can rent for your events, multiple breakout rooms to have your wedding party get ready in besides your hotel rooms, and a bar and restaurant onsite that is perfect for a welcome party evening and next-day brunch. They have plenty of rooming options for your hotel block and beautiful grounds for photos and even an outdoor ceremony, so you really don’t have to worry about going offsite at all if you don’t want to! You can find floor plans for the ballrooms and surrounding area here and their capacity and dimensions here.
Our favorite ballroom available is the Grand Oaks Pavilion. The unique lighting fixtures, floor-to-ceiling windows that expand over the two main walls allowing the nature of the space to be the backdrop, and the patio space they have directly outside for a cocktail hour are definitely some of our favorite parts of the space. Most hotel wedding venues are lucky to find even small windows for their event spaces so that is certainly something unique that we love about it here! The Grand Oaks Pavilion has a capacity of 200 guests for a classic sit-down banquet. There’s even a “pre-function area” that is great for overflow for cocktail hour and for the bar!
The next ballroom they have is Prairie Ballroom. This space is for much larger weddings with a capacity of 300 guests. There are still large windows on one side for natural lighting and the pre-function space for this ballroom is right near the front doors so it’s easier to navigate.
Hyatt Lodge also has a much smaller space for an intimate “micro” wedding as well called The Q-Room for a max capacity of 70 guests. This one is still getting the main benefit that the others have too with some floor-to-ceiling windows and a private patio.
The last thing to note is that they have options for an outdoor ceremony if the weather permits! We know that is a selling point for a lot of couples and it’s really convenient to have everything onsite if possible with the benefits of the nature right onsite.

Hyatt Lodge here in Oak Brook specifically was built in 1984 and renovated in 2012. Flow
As a guest, there is valet and a nice large parking lot to self-park that is a benefit to a wedding venue outside of the city of Chicago. Your guests can of course stay overnight in their hotel rooms to make it easiest! You can get a courtesy room block included with your rental of the space. If your family and friends are staying at the hotel, the check-in is 3pm. There are even spa services available like massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, a fitness center, and access to an indoor heated pool and hot tub if they wanted to elevate their stay for the wedding weekend! For the spa, you can make reservations between 8am-8pm at contact@windycitymassage.com.
You can host a welcome party at the Hearth Lounge which is their onsite bar with lots of comfortable seating or space on the outdoor patio. You can also drop off your personal items and decor with the front desk in their storage room so you don’t have to worry about it getting to your coordinators on the wedding day. This is another perk that not all venues allow!
For the wedding day, everything can be as onsite as you please - you can rent a wedding suite or a breakout room for your hair and makeup or just for getting ready, take photos in the expansive, nature-filled area (there’s trees, water, bridges… the opportunities are nearly endless!), and get ready for your ceremony.
There will be signs posted throughout the hotel to direct your guests to the ceremony or cocktail hour if your ceremony is offsite. It’s also a benefit of having wedding coordinators onsite to make sure your VIPs are finding their way to the festivities! Once the ceremony is over, your vendors will move any of the rentals or florals necessary for your reception while your guests are directed to your cocktail hour space. Many of the “next locations” are near each other so even if there is a bit of distance, you can easily find where the bar and appetizers are set up.
Hyatt Lodge is pretty flexible with whatever variety of your day you’re looking for as long as you hit their minimums. You can ask about the flow they recommend and how many hours you should anticipate for a smooth wedding day!
When your reception is over, your guests will be able to head to their hotel rooms or to the after party at Hearth Lounge.
The morning after the wedding, your guests that are still onsite can enjoy the café restaurant and patio at Water’s Edge. There are plenty of seats and you can ask them about reserving the space for your going-away brunch if you’d like! You’ll be on your very merry way with check out at 12pm.

Read more about Anna and Mike’s September wedding we helped coordinate:
A Classic September Wedding
This September wedding was beautiful all around. Beautiful weather, a beautiful couple, and a beautiful wedding day! The ceremony was at their family’s church in Lemont, Illinois and the reception was at the Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook, Illinois.
Church Wedding Ceremony
Anna and Mike opted to not have a first look to create a special moment of seeing each other for the first time down the aisle. This traditional element was interesting to navigate within this church because we had to hide Anna in a small room that wasn’t connected to the front of the church with the entrance doors. We made sure the timing was perfect so the guests were watching Mike halfway down the aisle and didn’t see her moving into position for the processional.
Wedding Reception at Hyatt Lodge
Having the reception at the Hyatt made it a lot easier for the couple and for the team of vendors alike. The catering was in-house and they had a beautiful reception space in the Grand Oaks Pavilion that had windows from the floor to the ceiling that gave a view to the lake and trees outdoors. We have to say, those ceiling lights are such a unique fixture that really added a fun element to their reception!
Anna and Mike had a very traditional Catholic service and had many other elements of their wedding that showed a strong, Polish influence. The Catholic church definitely was a big factor, but the next biggest factor was the food! It reminded us of some of our Polish family parties with mountains of food available at all hours. They also sang Sto Lat to celebrate all the years of their marriage to come!
They had a wonderful arrangement of a variety of appetizers that spanned over three tables long, and then a beautiful dessert station wrapped around a column. We had to take a picture ourselves because it was so gorgeous!
There was a larger chunk of time in between the ceremony and the reception to account for driving time and also so there was enough time to take photos for the bride and groom with their wedding party. Their photos turned out to be stunning (as you can tell!)
Outdoor Cocktail Hour on Patio
This really meant the anticipation was building for the guests to get ready to party and head to cocktail hour! Because the weather was so beautiful, they were able to utilize their outdoor patio for the cocktail hour too.
They had beautiful floral arrangements and floating votive candles as their centerpieces. There also was a change required for the head table due to the amount of ivy available, but the couple said that they thought everything looked beautiful.
Dancing the Night Away
Overall, this wedding was incredibly fun! We could tell that we were among a crowd that liked to party.
We have to say, this was probably one of the smoothest weddings we have ever worked! The timeline was followed to a T with the help of amazing venders and staff. We definitely would recommend looking into them below if you’re in the midst of planning your wedding.
